A passion for women's health

Dr. Lauren Hyman is a board-certified Obstetrician Gynecologist practicing in Southern California. She balances patient care and motherhood with educational media.

Education

Dr. Lauren grew up in sunny Southern California. She moved back east for her education, earning a ScB and graduating magna cum laude with honors from Brown University. She went on to receive her MD from Yale University School of Medicine. She was honored with the Obstetrics and Gynecology award and was named a Farr scholar for her research in adolescent endocrinology. She returned to the west coast for residency, completing her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of California, Irvine where she received the annual teaching award. She is a current fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Practice

Dr. Lauren is a board-certified Obstetrician Gynecologist in West Hills, CA. She and her partner opened their practice in 2002 after working in the community for four years. A Partnership for Women’s Health is an all-female MD practice offering services in every aspect of women’s healthcare. Dr. Lauren spends her day seeing patients of all ages for routine well-woman exams, contraceptive advice, gynecologic cancer screening, pelvic pain, infection, and menopausal and hormonal issues. She performs all types of gynecologic surgery including minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopy and laparoscopic hysterectomy. The practice provides obstetrical care to both low and high risk pregnant women.

Dr. Lauren follows women from preconceptual counseling and basic infertility, though the forty weeks of pregnancy to the delivery day. She has been honored to have delivered over two thousand babies. Outside of the practice, Dr. Lauren speaks to groups of tweens and their mothers about puberty and development and to local organizations of women about menopausal symptoms and management.

She has been quoted in numerous articles in multiple publications and is featured in MommyMD Guide To Pregnancy. Personal

Balancing the practice with motherhood makes for a life with few dull moments. Dr. Lauren has one child in middle school and another in elementary school. Most weekends are spent at drama performances or soccer tournaments. Spare weekend mornings usually involve impromptu dance-offs and free weekend afternoons find her, the children, and her husband hiking with their dog in the Santa Monica mountains. In the summer they look for shells on the beach and in the winter they try to get a few ski days in. Practicing yoga at least weekly allows her to exhale. Dr. Lauren loves to read fiction and is always looking for an excuse to bake.
